The Mayor and three (3) Council positions will appear on the General Election ballot on November 3, 2026. The terms of Mayor Donald Mann and Councilors Emily Newton and Patrick Peterson will expire in January 2027. The Mayor serves a two-year term, while Council positions are four-year terms. All positions are nonpartisan, elected at large, volunteer, and unpaid. The new terms will begin on January 21, 2027.
A candidate must be a qualified elector under the laws and constitution of the State of Oregon, a registered voter in the City of Gates for 9 months immediately preceding the election, and a resident of the City of Gates during the 12 months immediately preceding the election.
The filing period for candidates begins on June 3, 2026. To start the process, a candidate must file forms SEL 101 and SEL 121 (before gathering any signatures) with the City Recorder/Elections Officer.
